Bibelhauser Bros disc on ITUNES!!!

The new Bibelhauser Brothers album is now available on Itunes and on CDbaby.com.  This all original, full length disc includes several local/regional legends in the music business backing the two brothers Aaron and Adam Bibelhauser, who shared the vocal parts throughout.  Steve Cooley, who recorded, mixed, and mastered the project, also played all the mandolin parts while Aaron doubled on guitar and banjo and Adam played bass.  Another set of brothers, also included on the record, Jeff and Ivan Guernsey filled out the instrumental portion of the group on fiddle and resonator guitar.  The release event on November 11th was hosted by none other than John Gage at Uncle Slayton’s in Louisville.  Photos from that night, along with the album’s opening track “Colorado River” can be seen and heard on YouTube at the link below!!!!  A copy of the disc can be found in person at the regular Wednesday night Relic show at the Monkey Wrench 9pm-midnight…. See you there!

Bibelhauser Brothers Record Coming Soon!!!

Lots of progress on the latest recording project by Aaron and Adam Bibelhauser.  The new, all original, album in its final stages of mixing and mastering before completion and reproduction.  Tracking was completed late in May with the session work of southern Indiana’s own Jeff and Ivan Guernsey.  Jeff, who is a regular guest on stage with Relic, is a world renowned fiddler and multi-instrumentalist.  His older brother Ivan is also a well respected figure in the music business.  Ivan, an accomplished player, is also a builder of some of the finest custom resonator guitars in the country (I.L. Guernsey Guitar Co.).  The new project features Steve Cooley playing mandolin and Chuck Sharp doing some percussion on a few tracks.  Cooley, a whiz on nearly every instrument that falls into his hands, is doing all the recording, mixing, and mastering as well.   More exciting news to come on the release of this album later this summer!!!

Relic at 2011 Forest Fest

Relic will be performing two sets at this years Forest Fest Saturday May 21,2011.  The guys will be in good company that day as the Grasscals headline this years festivities.  The anual event is held at the beautiful Jefferson Memorial Forest in southwestern Jefferson County in Kentucky.  Also on the bill this year is the Bardstown, Ky based veterans of the genre, Bluegrass 101 along with The High Rollers of Nashville, TN.   Louisvillian Robin (Roller) Thixton will be pickin’ on the old 5 string with this band!!! Exciting! Show starts at 11am!! so come out early!

New addition to Relic!!!!

Percussionist, Tavis Conley is now onboard with Relic!  This is exciting news, allowing the band to continue on the course they’ve been on for the past year or so.  Persuing a more diverse, stylistic approach to the often restricted framework of traditional bluegrass.  We are constantly reminded that some of the most revered perfermers in the history of the genre included a drummer in their recordings and live performances.  A few of these notable musicians included: Flatt and Scruggs, the Osborne Brothers, Jim and Jesse, the Dillards, Cliff Walrdon and the New Shades of Grass, JD Crowe and the New South, New Grass Revival, Mac Wiseman, the Seldom Scene, Tony Rice, and many more.  Tavis is also an accomplished mandolin player and vocalist.  We look forward to many long hours of pickin’ and singin’ with this new addition to our rhythm section!!!
